Text typed with the Bijoy keyboard in SutonnyMJ looks fine in Word but turns into gibberish like evsjv‡`k on Facebook, websites and phones. This converter changes it to Unicode Bangla (বাংলাদেশ), which shows correctly everywhere and can be searched. It also works the other way, for print jobs that need SutonnyMJ.

How to convert Bijoy to Unicode

1. Copy the text from your Word or InDesign file and paste it in the Bijoy text box. It converts as soon as you paste.
2. The Unicode result appears in the lower box. Click Copy Unicode.
3. Paste it into Facebook, a website, email or a Word file set to a Unicode font such as Kalpurush, Nikosh or SolaimanLipi.

Is my text Bijoy or Unicode?

Select the text in Word and change the font to Arial. If it turns into Latin letters like Avgvi †`k, it is Bijoy. If it stays Bangla, it is already Unicode and needs no conversion. The Bijoy vs Unicode guide explains the difference.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the Bijoy box show English letters?

Bijoy text is stored as English letter codes. It only looks Bangla when the SutonnyMJ font is installed, which most phones do not have. The conversion works either way.

Some letters look wrong after converting

Old Bijoy files often contain stray codes from the keyboard. Paste the Unicode result into the Bangla text fixer to repair split vowel signs and letter order.

Is my text uploaded?

Bijoy to Unicode runs entirely in your browser. Unicode to Bijoy sends the text over HTTPS to the ConverterAZ conversion service, which handles SutonnyMJ letter shapes more accurately. ConvertBD does not store it, and if the service does not answer the page converts in your browser.

Can I type Bangla in the Unicode box?

Yes. Tick Type phonetically (or press Ctrl+M) and type amar desh + space to get আমার দেশ, the same as Avro Keyboard. For longer writing use the Bangla typing page.
